I'M OUT OF ESTROGEN - AND I HAVE A GUN!
Or
HOW YAHOO/GEOCITIES REALLY UPSETS MY MOOD SWINGS

You'll all be hearing this ALOT lately, from ALOT of us who have built web sites with those YAHOO'S (from now on referred to as the Gestapo).

Guess it all comes down to who really owns the bandwidth, and guess THEY DO. To get the full scoop on what they are doing you can go here to read and weep.

I've made it a point to make my graphics available for everyone to download or transload by making almost all of my graphics "clickable" (that way you get the URL info you need to transload), and I have also made it a point to let everybody know I do not allow direct linking. I'm sure there are many who honor my request, but I know that many more do not. In an effort to save my sites from being deleted by "The Gestapo" and to get a head start on what I feel will be happening to other servers such as Tripod, Angelfire, etc. these are the changes you will be seeing.

My Bumper Sticker site is no longer "clickable". Fake U Out Awards will continue to be clickable (because they have to) but I will offer fewer awards to be able to rename filenames on a regular basis to discourage direct linking. The Graphics Gallery will remain "clickable" as well but because I'm running out of storage I have already begun deleting older backgrounds and borders routinely. I really have no choice but to do this. I'm sure other sites will be doing the same. A sign of the times.

HEY ARTGEKKO: DO YOU HAVE ANY "GOOD NEWS"?

Actually, yes..I will be making a site that will have clickable Bumper Stickers and other graphics I come up with. The graphics will be changed monthly, you'll have time to transload or download and then the next month they will be replaced with a new batch. This should discourage alot of direct linking. This will be a site pretty much just for Web-TV, I just have to find a free server to place it.

If you have a site you care about I strongly suggest you mirror it's entire contents on another server. That way if you are shut out of your account (which is what happens, you are no longer allowed any access to retrieve your files) you will have them backed up elsewhere. It's a big job, but worth it.
